Unhappy Games ruined by glitches

I recently got a copy of Beyond Good & Evil for PS2 for the bargain price of £2.50. As soon as I started playing I loved it. Uncovering a conspiracy by taking incriminating photos rather than gunning everyone down was a refreshing change for me. However, after getting a sizeable way through the story and doing a lot of sub-missions, I cannot continue. Why? Not because a boss defeats me or because I can't do a puzzle, but because the key I need to open a locked door is currently floating in the air, independent of gravity and is impossible to pick up.

After searching on the Internet, i've found that this is a common problem in the PC version, and a patch has been made to fix it. However, according to Ubisoft, the glitch doesn't exist on the PS2 version... This suggests i've somehow managed to pick up the one copy out of the entire production with something wrong with it. I am upset. The game is saved with the key floating, so I would have to start again and even then, theres no guarantee it wont repeat itself. A pity because this was shaping up to be one of my favourite games on the PS2.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else? Really enjoyed a game until it crashed uncontrollably? Came up against an unintentionally unkillable enemy? Door not opened, or cut scene not triggered? Your thoughts please.

Yea, i hate is when a final fantasy game glithces and you suppose to get an item you dont and have to restart from your last save point. Ive had that happen in FF8, and FFX. Both time annoyed me >.<
