From a personal perspective, Gran Turismo 4 was my most anticipated game of 2005. Following very closely behind is the sequel to my game of the year, Burnout Revenge.
At E3, it was obvious just how much of an impact last years title has had on the arcade racing genre. Looking at most upcoming racing games, you could see some subtle, and not so subtle, influences. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery they say, and a lot of titles are imitating Burnout now.
If you’ve played Burnout, you know how insanely fast it is. Now imagine being able to take multiple routes on the tracks, and hitting jumps while you hurtle along at terrifying speed. Nice! This also brings the dizzying prospect of VERTICAL TAKEDOWNS! Or, as a former Battletech player, “death from above”. *drool*
I need to go lay down. I’m overstimulated...
