Have you ever wanted to make a video recording of your gameplay, complete with sound? You could then upload it to Youtube to share with your friends.

Videos are a great way of sharing some special secret or providing a walkthrough, but how do you do it?

I ran across a good article (http://www.labnol.org/software/download/how-to-record-computer-game-videos-for-youtube/2205/) from Digital Inspirations that lists several options:

WeGame.com (http://www.wegame.com/) provides storage for your captured game videos, but they also have a free Windows capture program. You can capture video or stills, but it only works with certain games.
Digital Inspiration considers FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com/download.php) the best option. The trial version puts a watermark on your video, but for a few bucks, you can get rid of that.
Taksi (http://taksi.sourceforge.net/) is similar to FRAPS, but open-source and free. On the downside, it doesn't record audio.
GameCam (http://www.planetgamecam.com/) is the final program in the category. It's also free, AND it does audio.I should note that all of these programs are Windows only (sorry Mac-fans).

If you've created a gamer video, post it here on GetGamer!

That is a good post. Is there anything similar to capturing video from console games?

With a console, you could use the console as a video source with a video capture card on a PC. Or you could route it through a DV video camera (they usually have RCA-IN jacks), record it, then output to your PC later. You might also be able to route it through a DVR like TiVo to record, the transfer the recording to your PC.
