Sony Reveals Redesigned PS2

As rumored earlier this month, a slimmed-down version of the PlayStation 2 is in the works for release later this fall. Sony Computer Entertainment today revealed the new model, SCPH-70000CB, which will see release on November 1 in North America and Europe, followed by a November 3 release in Japan.

Isn't this the third PS2 re-design along with the PSX? Wonder if there will be a portable screen for it like the PSone...

Japan gets it last? Thats funny. I always thought Japan got new releases first, with us Europeans getting it around 3 years afterwards. ;)

Yeah, I heard about that earlier this month. It looks really sleek. Makes me wonder if I should've waited a little bit longer to get my PS2.

About Japan gettting things later... They're also getting the NDS later than we are.

I found pictures and specs on the new 'slimline' PS2 (http://shop.game.net/Viewproduct.aspx?mid=324853) You can tell the difference easily. Its definitley a lot smaller.

The Price shows £104.99 which i think is about $70-80

Bear in mind that the UK has high taxes on products like games, so it wouldn't surprise me if the American release price was cheaper than the UK equivalent.

I've heard that the U.S. price is still going to be the same as it is now ($150). I can't say for sure though. They might knock the price down again.

I thiink i've worked the price out the wrong way. It should be about $150-160
if it is the same as UK price of £104.99(approx.)
