Earlier this week, when Electronic Arts obtained exclusive rights to the NFL, the majority of discussion was concerned with what this meant to the ESPN NFL title. Very little discussion was about Midway, and their NFL Blitz series.
Well, Midway don’t seem to care too much. In fact they’re playing with the hand they’ve been dealt and upping the violence, and adding other unsavory elements to the game, and NFL rights be damned. It will share the name of the short lived ESPN dramatic series “Playmakers”, a series which upset the NFL with it’s portrayal of football. The Blitz title will also likely upset the NFL too, but really, they chose to sell the exclusive rights.
