I just played the Holiday Demo Disc 2004 from PSM (I got two...?) and I must say that both Ratchet and Clank: Up Yor Arsenal and Jak3 look VERY PROMISING! R&C3 has orange menus instead of blue, unless that's demo-only, an Jak3 is set in the desert, at least for the first part of the storyline. But I plan to get both for christmas!
